Calacatta ("Calacatta," "we," "us," or "our") is a private members community app. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information when you use the Calacatta mobile app and related services.

By using Calacatta, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this Privacy Policy.

Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly to us when you create an account, complete your profile, communicate through the app, and use community features.

This may include:

  • Full name
  • Email address
  • Password and authentication credentials processed through our authentication provider
  • Internal user ID
  • Membership role and verification status
  • Join date

If you choose to complete your profile, we may also collect:

  • Bio
  • Selected profile picture or a reference to it
  • Target monthly income
  • Current earnings
  • Top skills

If you use community features, we collect the content and activity you choose to submit, including:

  • Posts
  • Comments
  • Likes
  • Direct messages
  • Announcement and event participation or interest
  • Support ticket details such as subject, category, description, priority, status, and responses

We also store authentication session information locally on your device so you can stay signed in.

Photo Library Permission

If you choose to change your profile picture, Calacatta may request access to your device's photo library. This permission is requested only so you can select a profile picture for your member profile. You do not need to grant photo access to use the rest of the app.

How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Create and manage user accounts
  • Authenticate users and maintain sign-in sessions
  • Verify membership and manage access to members-only features
  • Provide profile, feed, messaging, announcement, event, and support features
  • Display content and member activity within the app
  • Respond to support requests and administer the community
  • Maintain security, prevent misuse, and enforce our terms
  • Comply with legal obligations

How Information Is Shared

We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information with advertisers, analytics providers, or data brokers.

We may share information in the following limited ways:

With other members inside Calacatta

Because Calacatta is a private members community, certain information is visible to other authenticated members within the app, including your name, selected profile picture, posts, comments, direct messages you send to conversation participants, and your participation in relevant community features.

With managers and administrators

Managers or administrators may be able to view information needed to operate the community, including membership verification status and support tickets.

With our service provider

We use Supabase to provide backend services, including authentication, database hosting, and session management. Supabase processes and stores data on our behalf in order to operate Calacatta.

For legal or safety reasons

We may disclose information if required to do so by law, regulation, legal process, or valid governmental request, or when we believe disclosure is necessary to protect rights, safety, or the security of Calacatta, its users, or others.

In connection with a business change

If Calacatta is involved in a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or asset sale, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to applicable law.

Data Retention

We keep personal information for as long as your account is active or as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, operate the community, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and meet legal obligations.

Community content, messages, profile information, and support records may remain in our systems until they are deleted, your account is deleted, or retention is no longer necessary.

Account Deletion

You can request deletion of your account through the app.

When your account is deleted, we will delete or de-activate your account information and associated data linked to that account, including your profile and related user activity, subject to legal requirements, backup retention, fraud prevention, and technical limitations.

Some residual copies may remain temporarily in backups or logs for a limited period.

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect personal information. However, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your Rights and Choices

You can review and update certain profile information within the app.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights under applicable privacy laws, including the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information. You may also have the right to object to or restrict certain processing.

California residents may have specific privacy rights under California law. Calacatta does not sell personal information and does not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

International Data Transfers

Calacatta uses cloud-based infrastructure. If you use the app from a country other than the country where our hosting or service providers operate, your information may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in another country where privacy laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction.

Children's Privacy

Calacatta is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without appropriate consent, we will delete that information.

If applicable law in your jurisdiction sets a higher age threshold for digital consent, we will comply with that law.
